Since August 2022, more than 3600 individuals including children have arrived in Chicago on buses from Texas.
In September, Governor Pritzker issued an emergency proclamation to ensure all state resources are available to support asylum seekers arriving in Illinois from the State of Texas.
Many of our coalition partners are leading the efforts to welcome people with dignity and pushing for a robust and coordinated response from the federal, state, and local levels to ensure that immigrants and asylum seekers thrive in Chicago and Illinois.
