Happy 50th birthday to Human Support Services! The birthday celebrated included live music and an open house.
The organization, based in Monroe County, Illinois, first opened its doors in 1973 as a community counseling program staffed by a part-time medical director, one counselor and a secretary. Today, they provide an array of services including counseling and outpatient mental health services, affordable housing for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, job coaching, educational classes and training as well as recovery and substance use prevention and recovery services.
